Cost Calculation with Fuel Consumption per 100 KM

How to Calculate?

This method calculates the total fuel requirement and cost for a certain distance using your vehicle's standard fuel consumption figure (usually the consumption per 100 km stated in the vehicle booklet or specifications).

Total Fuel Requirement (Liters) = (Distance to be Calculated / 100) * Consumption per 100 KM
Total Cost (TL) = Total Fuel Requirement * Fuel Liter Price

  • Example: Your car consumes 7.5 liters per 100 km. Fuel costs 40 TL per liter. You will travel 500 km.
    • Total Fuel Requirement = (500 / 100) * 7.5 = 5 * 7.5 = 37.5 Liters
    • Total Cost = 37.5 Liters * 40 TL/Liter = 1500 TL

Consumption Calculation with Traveled Route and Fuel Consumed

How to Calculate?

This method allows you to find the average fuel consumption of your car per 100 km and the total cost of this trip, in cases where you know how much fuel you have used over a certain distance (for example, after a trip).

Consumption per 100 KM (Liters) = (Fuel Consumed / Distance Traveled) * 100
Total Cost (TL) = Amount of Fuel Spent * Fuel Liter Price

  • Example: You traveled 300 km and used 25 liters of fuel. The price of a liter of fuel is 40 TL.
    • Consumption per 100 KM = (25 / 300) * 100 ≈ 8.33 Liters/100 KM
    • Total Cost = 25 Liters * 40 TL/Liter = 1000 TL

Consumption Calculation with Tank Filling Method

How to Calculate?

This is one of the most accurate methods. You fill your vehicle's tank to the top, note the odometer, drive it for a while, and then fill it to the top again. The amount of fuel you fill is the fuel you use for the distance you travel.

Distance Traveled (KM) = Kilometers After Filling the Tank - Kilometers Before Filling the Tank
Consumption per 100 KM (Liters) = (Fuel Amount Filled / Distance Traveled) * 100
Total Cost (TL) = Fuel Amount Filled * Fuel Liter Price

  • Example: Initially 10000 km, now you are at 10450 km. You took 30 liters of fuel to fill the tank. Fuel costs 40 TL per liter.
    • Distance Traveled = 10450 - 10000 = 450 KM
    • Consumption per 100 KM = (30 / 450) * 100 ≈ 6.67 Liters/100 KM
    • Total Cost = 30 Liters * 40 TL/Liter = 1200 TL

Calculation with Total Distance and Average Consumption

How to Calculate?

This method is useful before a long trip or when you want to make a general estimate. It calculates how much fuel you will need and how much it will cost based on your car's known average fuel consumption over a certain distance.

Total Fuel Requirement (Liters) = (Total Distance / 100) * Average Fuel Consumption
Total Cost (TL) = Total Fuel Requirement * Fuel Liter Price

  • Example: You will travel 1200 km. The average consumption of your vehicle is 8.0 Liters/100 KM. Fuel per liter is 40 TL.
    • Total Fuel Requirement = (1200 / 100) * 8.0 = 12 * 8.0 = 96 Liters
    • Total Cost = 96 Liters * 40 TL/Liter = 3840 TL

Why Is Fuel Consumption Important?

Knowing and tracking fuel consumption is of great importance from both an **economic** and **environmental** perspective. Understanding how much fuel your vehicle uses will help you plan your monthly budget more accurately and avoid unnecessary expenses.

In addition, knowing about fuel efficiency allows you to evaluate your vehicle’s performance, review your driving habits and detect potential problems (e.g. increased consumption) early. Lower fuel consumption also means fewer carbon emissions, reducing your environmental impact.

Factors Affecting Fuel Consumption:

These calculators provide approximate results based on the data entered. Actual fuel consumption may vary depending on many different factors, including vehicle age, road and weather conditions, driving style, and vehicle technical condition. For the most accurate results, it is recommended that you regularly monitor your long-term fuel consumption.
