IELTS General Band Score Calculation
How to Calculate?
The IELTS Overall Band Score is calculated by averaging your scores from the four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. You can find your estimated band score by entering the number of correct answers out of 40 for the Listening and Reading sections. You must manually select these scores as the Writing and Speaking sections are scored directly by the examiners on a 0.0-9.0 band.
If the resulting score has a decimal point, it is rounded to the nearest whole or half band:
- If the decimal portion of the average score is between **.25** and .74**, it is rounded to the nearest **half band** (for example, 6.25 or 6.49 to 6.5).
- If the decimal portion of the average score is **.75 or above**, it is rounded up to the next **whole band** (e.g. 6.75 or 6.99 to 7.0).
- If the decimal portion of the average score is **.24 and below**, it is rounded to the same whole band (e.g. 6.00 or 6.24 to 6.0).
This calculator estimates your score in accordance with the official IELTS rounding rules. The number of correct answers to band score conversions for Listening and Reading are approximate and may vary slightly from test to test. Your actual IELTS score is the final score stated on your official results document issued by the test centres.
What is IELTS and Why is it Important?
**IELTS** is an English language proficiency test widely accepted by universities, employers, professional bodies and immigration authorities around the world.
