When calculating the number of tiles, not only the size of the area but also the size of the tile itself and the joint gap are important. The joint gaps left between the tiles provide an aesthetic appearance and prevent the tiles from cracking due to temperature changes or ground movements.
- Joint Spacing (Joint Thickness): It usually varies between 0.2 cm and 0.5 cm. Wider joints may be preferred for large tiles and narrower joints for small tiles. Standards may vary depending on the application area (indoor, outdoor) and the type of tile.

Importance of Fire Rate:
**Waste** is inevitable during tile and ceramic installation. This is the loss of material due to cuts, breakages, incorrect applications or damaged products.
- **Tile Waste Rate:** It usually varies according to the shape of the area to be laid, the size of the tile and the laying pattern. It is recommended to leave a 5-10% waste margin for a flat and rectangular area, and 15-20% or more for complex shaped or diagonally laid areas.
- **Adhesive and Grout Waste Rates:** During application, around 5-10% waste may occur due to spillage, waste or residue left on the brush/comb.
