Paint Recipe Calculator

Calculate the precise amounts of dyes and chemicals needed for your textile dyeing processes.

Calculate Paint and Chemical Amount

Dye and Chemical Quantity Calculation

Please enter the dry weight of the fabric to be dyed and the percentage (%) for each dye/chemical. The percentage value is calculated in proportion to the fabric weight (%) (OWF - On Weight of Fabric).

Paint and Chemical Information

Results (Quantities Required):

The calculated amounts are in grams or kilograms according to the dry weight of the fabric. In laboratory applications, the concentration of the dye/chemical and stock solution ratios should be taken into account.

What is a Dye Recipe?

Dye recipe is a detailed set of instructions that specify the amount, proportions, application conditions (temperature, time, pH, etc.) and order of dyes and auxiliary chemicals required to achieve the desired color and touch of the textile material (yarn, fabric, fiber). A special recipe is created for each color tone and each fiber type.

Recipes are usually prepared according to the "Percentage on Weight of Fabric/Fiber" (OWF) principle. This indicates what percentage of the dye or chemical to be used is used in relation to the dry weight of the material to be dyed.

Why Is Dye Recipe Important?

  • Color Consistency: Ensuring that the same color gives the same tone in different production batches or different machines.
  • Cost Control: Reducing production costs by preventing paint and chemical waste.
  • Quality Assurance: To minimize dyeing errors (staining, tone difference, etc.).
  • Environmental Impact: Reducing waste by optimizing chemical use.
  • Efficiency: To ensure that painting processes are carried out quickly and effectively.

How to Calculate the Amount of Dye and Chemicals?

The amount of dye or chemical required is calculated using the dry weight of the fabric and the percentage value in the recipe using a simple ratio:

Material Amount (kg) = (Fabric Weight (kg) * Material Percentage (%)) / 100

This formula will give the result in kilograms if the fabric weight is in kilograms. For a calculation in grams, simply enter the fabric weight in grams.

Application Areas:

  • Textile dyehouses and printing enterprises.
  • Chemical suppliers and formulation development.
  • Quality control laboratories.
  • R&D departments (developing new colours and processes).
  • Ready-made clothing and home textile production facilities.

This calculator is for general information purposes and provides theoretical calculations. In real dyehouse operations, many additional factors such as laboratory scale trials, dye yield, water hardness, pH affecting power of auxiliary chemicals, machine type and dye bath ratio should be taken into account. For sensitive and commercial dyeing applications, experienced dye engineers and detailed laboratory analysis should be consulted.
