How to Calculate?

This method uses your steps taken and average stride length to calculate your distance, then estimates calories burned based on your body weight and activity level.

Calories Burned = Body Weight (KG) * Distance Covered (KM) * MET Value

  • MET Value (Metabolic Equivalent):
    • Slow Walking: ~2.0 - 3.0 METs
    • Moderate Walking: ~3.5 - 4.5 METs
    • Fast Walking: ~5.0 - 6.0 METs
    • Running: ~8.0 - 10.0+ METs
  • Example: 70 kg, 10,000 steps, 75 cm stride length, moderate walking (4.0 METs)
    • Distance = (10000 * 75) / 100000 = 7.5 KM
    • Calories Burned = 70 kg * 7.5 KM * 4.0 METs = 2100 Calories (This value is an example for the formula and the actual calculation may differ)

How to Calculate?

This method calculates the estimated distance traveled based on your walking speed and time, and then the calories burned based on your body weight. The step count is used to verify the speed.

Distance (KM) = Speed (KM/h) * Time (hour)
Calories Burned = Body Weight (KG) * MET Value * Time (in hours)

  • Relationship Between Speed and MET Value: As speed increases, MET value also increases.
  • Example: 70 kg, 60 minutes of walking at 5 km/h. (Approximately 3.5 METs)
    • Distance = 5 km/h * 1 hour = 5 KM
    • Calories Burned = 70 kg * 3.5 METs * 1 hour = 245 Calories (This value is an example for the formula and the actual calculation may differ)

Note: The number of steps should coincide with the walking pace. For example, 10,000 steps corresponds to approximately 7-8 km at an average pace.

This simple method uses your body weight and the number of steps you take to give a general calorie estimate. This calculation assumes an average stride length and a moderate-intensity walking activity.

Calories Burned = (Number of Steps / Average Calories per Step)

  • Average: In general, a person burns about 100 calories for every 2,000 steps they take. This translates to an average of 0.05 calories per step. However, this value varies greatly depending on a person's weight, speed, and stride length.
  • General Rule: Walking 1 km can cause you to burn approximately 0.7 times your body weight in calories (e.g. 70 kg person 49 calories per 1 km). These values vary according to the intensity of the activity.
  • Example: 70 kg, 10,000 steps
    • Estimated Calories Burned = 10000 steps * 0.05 Calories/Step = 500 Calories (This is a very simplified approach.)

This method is mostly used to get a general idea. For more precise results, it is recommended to use other methods or smart devices.
